Muddy Stilettos has revealed the best places to live in the UK and one Lancashire town features in its new 2025 list.
The digital platform says it “draws upon its unparalleled local knowledge and insight into the 35 most sought-after counties in England, guiding potential buyers to the local hot spots and up-and-coming areas.”
The list sees towns and villages across the UK feature thanks to “Muddy’s insider intel on the loveliest city spots, towns and villages, with the best schools, shopping and pubs”.
This year’s list has 30 more entries with areas across London, Yorkshire and Cheshire now included.
Muddy Stilettos added: “From urban postcodes to market towns and villages, hamlets to commuter favourites, Muddy Stilettos Top 300 Best Places To Live provides its readers with invaluable recommendations that home buyers need, all independently handpicked by Muddy’s highly trusted editors, each living and bringing up their families in each of the 35 ‘Muddy’ counties across the UK, and giving home owners the inside track that they won’t get from mortgage lenders or other sources.
“Each detailed online feature, focusing on an individual village, town or city in our Top 300, comes with location map, up-to-date information on desirable properties available for sale and on-the-ground insights into schools and nurseries, shopping, culture, restaurants and bars plus the all-important commuting journeys for those still traveling into London and major conurbations.”

Lancashire town among best places to live in the UK
Lancashire doesn’t feature as a county itself but it is included within the Best of the Rest category with Clitheroe being the only town to represent it.
The Best of the Rest category is said to provide the “same insider intel on commuting, schools, amenities and culture” as the Best Places to Live list but the areas are “just further afield”, Muddy Stilettos explains.

Hero Brown, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Muddy Stilettos, said: “When people decide to move, they’re searching for more than just a house - they want a home, a lifestyle that works for them and their family, and if they’re strategic, a long-term investment too.
“Our 2025 ‘Top 300 Best Places To Live’ guide will give them that extra reassurance they need to make their search easier in these difficult economic times.
“We’ve built our reputation on our first-hand knowledge of the most exciting, vibrant places to go and things to do outside London. Now, with London, Yorkshire and Cheshire added to the guide and new information added on important considerations such as nursery education and nearby culture, the 2025 list is a natural step for us to continue to expand our authority in this area.
“Combined with up to the minute listings of desirable properties, we think it’s a unique reference point in a turbulent yet hopefully resilient property market.”

When it comes to where to live, more than ever people want a vibrant and tight-knit community.
“It’s a trend that deepened during the pandemic and is likely to remain a leading factor for those looking to relocate.
