Major delays are expected as all traffic has been held along the A56 at Huncoat due to a lorry crashing into the central reservation.

Northbound it is closed between the A680 and A679 and Southbound it is closed from the M65 (J8) to A680 Rising Bridge with diversion routes in place.

Fire and police are at the scene from the McDonald roundabout to the junction with Grane Road.

National Highways contractors are en route to assist and have told motorists to expect delays and avoid the area.

Drivers in the area are advised to travel via Haslingden Road and the A680 via Baxenden.

Normal traffic conditions are expected between 5.45pm and 6pm tonight.

National Highways issued this statement: “The A67 is blocked in both directions between the A680 at Rising Bridge and the A679 at Huncoat.

"This is due to a lorry that has collided with the central reservation.
