Current members of the armed forces and military veterans will get free travel on East Lancashire's three main bus operators' services for next month's main Remembrance events.
The Blackburn Bus Company, Rosso and the Burnley Bus Company will all offer the concession to all current service personnel with Forces IDs and veterans in uniform or with their medals.
The free travel for military personnel and veterans is available on Remembrance Sunday, November 10, and Armistice Day, Monday, November 11.
Managing director of the three firms' parent company Transdev, Henri Rohard, said: “As many veterans and their families continue to face financial challenges, it’s more important than ever that we offer our support wherever we can.
“We want to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom and to support those living with the impact of conflict today.
“All our teams at our depots across the North are supporting us with this, and together we will honour the service of Forces personnel past and present.”
On both Remembrance days, where it is safe to do so, Transdev’s buses will pause at 11am to observe two minutes’ silence in memory of those who gave their lives in defending our nation.
As well as frequent local services in and around the town, The Blackburn Bus Company company operates the Red Express between Accrington, Haslingden, Ramsbottom and Manchester, and local routes linking Blackburn with Clitheroe, Chorley and Bolton.
The Burnley Bus Company operates a network of local bus routes in and around Burnley and Pendle and over the Pennines to Skipton and Keighley.
Rosso provides local bus services between Accrington and Rawtenstall and to Rochdale and Bury.
