Major delays are expected on the M6 northbound after a “shed load” of bricks fell from the back of a truck.
Two lanes are closed between J31 at Preston East and J31A at Ribbleton as traffic officers continue to work at the scene with specialist contractors en route to assist with the clean-up.
Delays of 75 minutes are expected, and congestion is building back to the J28 at Leyland.
Emergency services are on the scene between J31 for Samlesbury and J31A for Longridge.
There is also stop-start traffic on the M61 northbound before the M6 with travel times around 35 minutes.
National Highways issued this statement:” Due to a shed load of bricks across the carriageway, lanes 1 and 2 of (4) are closed on the M6 northbound between J31 and J31A near Preston.
“Traffic Officers are working at the scene with specialist contractors en route to assist with the clean-up. There are delays of 75 mins.”
