Police have seized 11 untaxed vehicles in Hyndburn and one motorist was handed a fine for reversing up a ‘no entry street’.
Hyndburn Police carried out ‘operation rally’ on Wednesday, October 16. The operation aimed to address community concerns, tackle anti-social behaviour and remove unsafe vehicles from the streets.
The operation began with ‘bin the bangers’, an ongoing initiative targeting untaxed, abandoned and road-unworthy vehicles. Working closely with the DVLA and Hyndburn council, the team successfully removed 11 untaxed vehicles from the streets, freeing up valuable community space.
Officers also held a meeting involving Onwards Homes, the safer neighbourhoods team and Hyndburn council to find effective solutions following community concerns around recent crime and anti-social behaviour around the Springhill area.
During the operation, officers seized a vehicle after its driver was found reversing up a no entry street. The driver had no insurance, and police found a small amount of drugs after searching the car. The drugs were seized and the driver was fined.
Local neighbourhood inspector for Hyndburn, Peter Norris, said: “Operation Rally is all about engaging with the local community and working with our partner agencies to tackle the issues that matter to our residents the most.
“We will continue to address these issues and would encourage people to continue to report their concerns to us by signing up to Lancashire Talking and In The Know”.
