The A59 in Clitheroe was closed on Friday night (October 18).
The road was closed between Accrington Road and Whalley Road. The road was closed in both directions and police said it was due to a “police incident”.
Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, police confirmed that the incident was a concern for welfare.
The road reopened just after 8pm.
A police spokesperson said: “Earlier we made you all aware that the A59 in Clitheroe was closed between Accrington Road, Whalley, and Whalley Road, Langho, in both directions due to a police incident.
The road has now been reopened, thank you for your patience.
“It was in relation to a concern for welfare. The road was subsequently re-opened just after 8pm.”
