This week has seen several East Lancashire criminals put behind bars for offences ranging from drug dealing to prison relationships.

The longest sentence saw a man who claimed he had 'spiritual healing abilities' so that he could sexually abuse a teenage girls put behind bars for 12 years.

Here, we bring you a round-up of all the criminals banged up in the region throughout the week.

All the East Lancashire criminals jailed last week

Mohammed Zafar

Mohammed ZafarMohammed Zafar (Image: Lancashire Police) Mohammed Zafar was jailed for two years at Preston Crown Court on Monday, October 14.

Zafar, 21, of Lammack Road, Blackburn, caused serious injuries to PC Bottomley during a course of dangerous driving around the town.

The court heard how Zafar was behind the wheel of an Audi SQ5 at the time of the incident.

After the crash, the officer was left with multiple broken bones in her hand and chest as well as other areas of her body.

Naeem Iqbal

Naeem IqbalNaeem Iqbal (Image: Lancashire Police) Naeem Iqbal was sentenced to three years and four months in prison on Monday, October 14.

Iqbal, 28, of Ormerod Street, Burnley, was found with £24,000 of cocaine at a property in Burnley and pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

PC Jess Lees, from Burnley Task Force, said: “Organised crime, including the production and supply of drugs, blights our communities and we will not tolerate it in Burnley.

Cheryl Hindle and Dean Holmes

Cheryl HindleCheryl Hindle (Image: North West Regional Organised Crime Unit) Cheryl Hindle and Dean Holmes were sentenced to four months and three months in prison respectively at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday, October 16.

Hindle, a careers and education advisor at HMP Kirkham, struck up a relationship with inmate Dean Holmes, who was serving a 10-year sentence for aggravated burglary.

Hindle, 44, of Sultan Street, Accrington, drove Holmes to an examination outside of the prison in her own vehicle and the court also heard how they shared love letters and talked about their future together.

Hasham Lodhi

Hasham LodhiHasham Lodhi (Image: Lancashire Police) Hasham Lodhi was jailed for 12 years at Preston Crown Court on Friday, October 18.

Lodhi, 41, of Brennand Street, Burnley, claimed he had spiritual healing abilities, but used this to sexually abuse an 18-year-old girl who he said "needed cleansing."

On one occasion, Lodhi told her she "had evil inside her which needed cleaning out."

His defence barrister, Emma Kehoe, said he did not accept the offences he was convicted of but did admit “unacceptable behaviour” towards the victim.

Judge Daniel Prowse described Lodhi as "ruthless" and said he exploited the girl's genuine religious beliefs.

Jack Lain

(Image: Archive) Jack Lain was jailed for three years at Preston Crown Court on Friday, October 18 following an arson attack on his parents' house in Wilpshire.

Lain, 37, attempted to set fire to the house with lighter fluid in September of last year.

Lain, of Knowsley Road West, Wilpshire, suffered from neurological symptoms including psychotic episodes, anxiety and depression.

Judge Ian Unsworth said Lain had "genuine remorse" and "it is self-evident that in a more lucid state you were disgusted by what you did."
