The M6 was closed near Preston earlier today after a load of wooden pallets was shed across the carriageway.
Traffic was stopped on the northbound M6 between J31 and J31A, both near Preston, while the load was cleared.
Traffic remains slow between the two junctions but all lanes are now open.
Normal traffic conditions are expected by around 1pm, National Highways said.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "All lanes have re-opened on the M6 in Lancashire northbound between J31 and J31A due to a shed load of wooden panels in the carriageway.
"Thank you for your patience, please have a safe onward journey."
An AA Traffic spokesperson previously said: "All lanes stopped and stationary traffic due to shed load on M6 Northbound after J31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury).
"Roughly one mile after the junction."
