An East Lancashire restaurant has won a top gong at a national curry awards ceremony.
Musafir restaurant, in Earby, was one of the winners in the Best Restaurant Category at this year's Curry Life Awards, announced in London on October 13.
The East Lancashire eatery opened in Victoria Road in 2020 and has built a strong reputation for high-quality, fresh food across its menu.
Owner Majid Hussain said: "Winning the award is a very exciting time for the business, and it’s a great feeling to have achieved this.
“It means a great deal to us as we started from nothing, and we built up our customer base.
“We are always striving to provide quality to our diners and it’s nice to see that this is being appreciated by our customers."
Before opening Musafir, Mr Hussain had never owned a restaurant and was involved in the legal industry.
After being persuaded by family members who had restaurants, he opened the award-winning curry house in 2018 in Skipton, before relocating to East Lancashire.
The 15th annual Curry Life Awards, organised by Britain’s only curry magazine, Curry Life, recognise those who represent the very best of the British curry industry and show innovation and inspiration in their work.
Keynote speaker, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting MP, said: “The hospitality industry has an enormous contribution to make to our country.
“But there’s something more fundamental about what the hospitality industry does, and what curry houses across the country do, which is about bringing people together, making connections and creating communities.
“It’s about making sure our high streets are thriving, and where people want to spend time and money and enjoy family and friendship.
“In the Budget and beyond we will be doing everything that we can, not just to support our large businesses, but to support our SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] too.”
