As Halloween and Bonfire Night approach, here are three community focussed events to enjoy in East Lancashire.

Langho Community Bonfire and Fireworks Display

Langho and Billington Community Centre is hosting a bonfire and fireworks display on Saturday November 2 to raise funds for St Leonard's Langho Scout Group.

There will be a raffle on the night, and food, drink and flashing novelties will be on sale throughout the evening.

The event has been held for more than 40 years thanks to volunteers from the Scout Group and will benefit the local community and the more than 60 boys and girls who attend Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Group Chairman Phil Watson said: "Whilst it's hard work over the weekend, it's worthwhile to see the smiles on peoples' faces and the positive comments we receive about our firework display as people are leaving, not to mention the funds raised for the group."

All funds raised on the night go directly to help the Scout Group, providing additional activities for members and ensuring the club has all the equipment they need for their busy group.

Gates at the community centre in Langho open at 6pm.

No alcohol, fireworks - including sparklers - or dogs are allowed at the event and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are £12 for a family ticket for 2 adults and up to 3 children, £5 for an adult, and £3 for a child.

Tickets are available now, either from Langho Spar - cash only payments - or online at www.facebook.com/stleonardsbonfire.

The event is expected to sell out, but if there are tickets left on the day, they rise to £15, £6 and £4, and will only be available online.

Pumpkin Picking & Fireworks at The Plough Pub in Great Harwood

The Plough pub in Great Harwood is running two financially friendly events for the local community throughout autumn.

Affordable pumpkin picking and firework displays will take place at the pub in October and November.

From 4pm on Thursday, October 17 until Sunday October 27, the pub will run pumpkin picking events on the Halloween themed pumpkin patch with more than 1,000 pumpkins.

The event includes Halloween themed photo opportunities, and a fire, light and laser show that runs twice nightly.

The Flame show “Legacy" is free to watch and enjoy – visitors only need to buy a ticket for every pumpkin they plan to take home, costing £4.95 each.

The pub is also hosting a fireworks display on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 of November, with entrance from 5pm each night.

The event is an 18-minute pyro-musical display, with lights, lasers and effects all done in house.

With three times as many fireworks as last time, the event will also have an outside bar, an outside food stall and outside rides and stalls.

There will be pram parking outside the pub and benches on the outside of the grass - which will be covered to reduce the amount of mud at the event.

Tickets cost £4 per person and are free for children under three years old.
