As Halloween is fast approaching, an Accrington makeup artist is creating some creepy looks to get us into the spooky spirit.
Pixi Paints has always been a big fan of horror and pursued her love for special effects make-up and the ways it can completely transform a person's look.
Inspired by her mum, who was a special effects make-up artist and taught hair and media make-up at a local college, she got into the art form at the age of 16.
Honing her skills she now offers a wide range of gruesome looks to anyone preparing for spooky season.
She said: “It is a passion, and it is something I enjoy doing and I put a lot of love into it.
“I have always been a big fan of horror and the real special effects makeup, and it can transform someone and how they look and at Halloween, it is great you can be anyone you want to be and not be judged.”
Currently operating as a side job, she focuses on providing a bespoke experience which doesn’t portray her art effectively.
Pixi added: “It is more of a side thing, I do it because I enjoy it and if I did it full-time I might lose my love for it.”
This time of year is her most popular season and she has numerous bookings on either side of October 31, which this year falls on a Thursday, with parties set to take place the weekends on either side and on the day itself.
Having almost 10 years of experience, she often finds people are shocked by the price of her looks but explains that is down to the long and expensive process needed to complete them.
She continued: “People are paying for the art and it is a long process and expensive products.
"People who want it, want it done well; I'd rather have fewer bookings and have some really cool looks.
“The time, effort and cost of products that go into effects make-up is a lot more expensive than glam but for a good effect look you are looking at a lot more cost.”
