Cash totalling around £13,000 was seized at a motorway service station in Lancashire by the Specialist Ops unit.

The team shared an update of their latest activities on social media.

They said the driver of an Audi A8 was stopped at Charnock Richard Services on the M6 after being driven at speed on the southbound carriageway.

The vehicle was searched and the cash was found in a carrier bag in the footwell.

A 36-year-old man from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

In a separate incident, a man driving an Audi Q5 who had been stopped by police attempted to make off and crashed with a police car and a lamp post.

The driver then attempted to make off on foot, but he was eventually caught and identified as a 27-year-old man from Skelmersdale.

After conducting a search of the Audi, two large bags of white powder and tablets were located.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, money laundering, and dangerous driving.

He is currently in custody.

A third incident saw officers stop the driver of a Ford Transit van in Deepdale Road, Preston.

A search of the van uncovered a large amount of suspected class A drugs.

A 39-year-old man of no fixed address and a 50-year-old man from Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

They are both currently in custody.
