An actor from Burnley is set to fulfil a childhood dream when he stars in the new Wallace and Gromit film, that is set to air later this year.
Muzz Khan, 43, has been announced as a voice actor in Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, which will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Christmas.
His character in the film has yet to be announced, and tight-lipped Muzz said, “it's a definite character and not just a background voice”.
The former Edge End High School, Nelson, pupil said he has dreamed of being in an Aardman production since his childhood.
He said: “I've been yearning to be in an Aardman production for decades. E
"ver since I was a kid at [school] but, particularly, Wallace and Gromit.
“Aardman was huge for me growing up, and I wanted to work with them and join that family something chronic since the age of about 12.
“Most actors would give one of their limbs to be in an Aardman show. Very few get the chance. I'd been pestering various acting agents over the years but to no avail.
“After I became the face and voice of Asda for a year during Covid, I set out to find a voice-over agency who could help me achieve and fulfil that dream.”
Muzz, who appeared in series five and six of Brassic, said he was “mega excited” after hearing back from the Aardman team.
He said: “I was told [it’s not an audition] ‘it's a straight offer'.
"I was blown away. Turns out someone at Aardman listened to my reel and then put it to Nick Park [Wallace and Gromit creator] for a listen.
“He liked my voice and thought I'd be perfect for a certain character in the film.
“I manifested it, I chased it and the stars aligned. I'm jammy [person] and the luckiest bloke alive.”
Filming has wrapped on the stop-motion production and Muzz said it took around 15 months to shoot the 70-minute film.
He said visiting Aardman's headquarters in Bristol was a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” that will live with him forever.
He said: “Aardman invited me to have a look around the studios while they were working and I don't think I've geeked out that much in my life - ever.
“I managed to go back again at the end of summer for a family and friends event and took my kids around the studios... they lost their minds. I definitely got 'cool dad' points for that one!”
Muzz, who also played an Oompa Loompa guard in the 2023 release of Wonka, isn’t stopping at Wallace and Gromit and will appear in series two of Channel 5’s The Good Ship Murder.
Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl sees Gromit’s growing concern as Wallace becomes over-dependent on his inventions - which proves justified when Wallace invents a ‘smart gnome’ that seems to develop an evil mind of its own.
But who or what could be the cause? As events begin to spiral out of control, it’s up to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces, or Wallace may never be able to invent again.
Notorious baddie Feathers McGraw, who was last seen in 1993’s BAFTA and Academy Award-winning short The Wrong Trousers, returns in the new film.
The Wrong Trousers saw the manipulative and calculating penguin - already a wanted criminal - rent out a room at Wallace and Gromit’s house where he sought to use Wallace’s techno trousers to steal a diamond. Rightfully behind bars ever since, he’s now back for revenge.
Ben Whitehead stars as the eccentric, cheese-loving inventor from the north of England who lives with his best friend and loyal pooch, Gromit.
The film will also feature the return of Bolton’s Peter Kay as Chief Inspector Mackintosh.
The new cast features Reece Shearsmith as Wallace’s latest invention Norbot, Lauren Patel, and cameos from Bolton’s Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk, Motherland), Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton, Invictus) and Sir Lenny Henry (Three Little Birds, the Lord of the Rings).
Details of their roles will be revealed in due course.
