Forecasters are predicting there could be highs of up to 20°C in the UK this week, with Blackburn also getting a share of the warm weather.

Southern parts of the country are expected to creep into the 20s and possibly higher as the week goes on.

It's not expected to get quite that warm in Blackburn but some days this week could be at odds with the usual forecast for this time of year.

Wednesday is predicted to be the warmest day this week, potentially reaching up to 17°C by the afternoon, and only reaching a low of 11°C.

After a misty start to Thursday, temperatures could climb again to around 15°C by the early afternoon.

Sadly, this warmer weather doesn't necessarily mean it will be sunny too. The highest temperature on Wednesday is expected to be accompanied with some rain, while on Friday, when there are highs of 14°C expected, it's expected to rain all day.

The Met Office said across the North West today (October 14) it will be largely dry with some sunny spells, though southern parts of the region will remain largely cloudy.

In its outlook for Wednesday to Friday, it said: "Wet and breezy on Wednesday, with rain turning heavy at times.

"Brighter on Thursday, ahead of further wind and rain moving in from the west during Friday. Temperatures above average."
