Proposed changes to the Ribble Valley self-build homes register are under public consultation.
The council has suggested amending the rules related to self-build and custom house-building in the borough.
The consultation period is set for four weeks and residents in the borough are being urged to have their say.
Ribble Valley Borough Council is asking residents to explore the proposed changes, easily accessible on its website by searching for "self-build register."
For those preferring a traditional approach, a paper copy of the proposed changes is available at Clitheroe Town Hall.
The consultation will remain open until 5pm on November 8.
Rea Psillidou, the council's head of strategic planning and housing, said: "The proposed changes will help strengthen the 'local connection' criteria for those people eligible to be on Part 1 of the council’s self-build register, and provide more clarity for those interested in building their own home.
"The changes will also improve the efficiency of maintaining the register."
The planning and development committee of the council gave the go-ahead for this public consultation.
The register serves as a record of individuals interested in obtaining plots for self-build and custom housing.
Comments on the proposed changes can be submitted via email to planning.policy@ribblevalley.com or by post to the Planning Policy Team at Ribble Valley Borough Council.
