A man has been arrested after a police investigation into a stabbing in Blackpool at the start of the month.
Officers attended the scene, last Wednesday, October 3, at Squires Gate Lane to reports of an assault.
They found a man in his 30s had suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Mohammed Ali Ahmed Alshafi, 26, of no fixed abode has been charged with attempted murder.
He has been remanded to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 11.
Police believe that this incident was a targeted attack and there was no wider threat to the public.
A spokesperson from Lancashire Police said: “You may remember us appealing for information after a man suffered stab injuries on Squires Gate Lane in Blackpool earlier this month – we now have an update to bring you.
“Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Mohammed Ali Ahmed Alshafi, 26, of no fixed abode has been charged with attempted murder and section 39 assault.
“He has been remanded to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court on 11th October.”
