A man has been detained after an incident in Lancaster on Wednesday (October 9).
Police were called to Wellington Road at around 6.30pm after a concern for welfare report, for a man at the address.
A cordon was put around the address while specially trained officers negotiated with him.
Around three hours later, the incident was resolved. An 18-year-old man was detained.
No-one was injured and rumours that there was a man in the street armed with a crossbow are not true.
A police spokesperson said: “We are aware that there has been some talk in the community and on social media about an incident in Lancaster earlier this evening and we wanted to let you know what had happened.
“We were called at about 6.30pm to a report of a concern for welfare of a man inside an address on Wellington Road in the city. Officers attended and a cordon was put on around the address while specially trained officers negotiated with him.
“At shortly after 9.30pm the incident was resolved, and an 18-year-old man was detained.
“No-one was injured during the incident and rumours that there was a man in the street armed with a crossbow are not true.
“Many thanks to everyone in the local area for their patience and understanding while we dealt with what was a complex and fast-moving and dynamic incident.”
