Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner and the Member of Parliament for Rossendale and Darwen patrolled Bacup with officers to discuss local issues.

Clive Grunshaw joined MP Andy MacNae on the beat to understand how police are tackling concerns raised by residents.

Mr Grunshaw outlined plans to curb anti-social behaviour through increased foot patrols under Operation Centurion.

He also detailed his plans to 'rebuild neighbourhood policing' to ensure a strong, visible presence in towns like Bacup.

Operation Centurion is Lancashire Police's initiative to tackle anti-social behaviour as part of a wider countywide focus.

During the patrol, they visited The Station, a community-led youth hub.

The Station has previously received funding from the PCC's office to provide a safe space for young people to positively engage with the community.

Following the visit, Mr Grunshaw said: "It was great to join Andy in Bacup to discuss how we can work together to make a difference.

"Though there is always more to be done, it was encouraging to see how local policing and community projects, such as The Station, are working to combat crime and anti-social behaviour and promote positive engagement between young people, the police and the wider community.

"As Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner, I am committed to restoring neighbourhood policing and ensuring residents get a visible policing service in order to build trust and confidence."

Labour backbencher Andy MacNae said: "With police, councillors, community groups and local businesses working together, we have seen some real positive progress over the last year.

"But we do need to keep going and so it was great to hear Clive’s renewed commitment to foot patrols and visible policing.

"I look forward to working with Clive and our local police officers to keep our town centres safe."
