A MAN sent social media death threats to members of his family and a neighbour.

Blackburn magistrates heard the victims were aware that Callum Wilson had mental health issues and they perceived the threats were genuine.

Wilson, 24, of Watt Street, Sabden, pleaded guilty to sending communications threatening death or serious harm. He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced after Deputy District Judge Roger Lowe ruled his powers of punishment were insufficient.

“The victims said they were terrified by your behaviour and were concerned these threats may be carried out,” said Deputy District Judge Lowe.

Usmah Kausar, prosecuting, said two of the victims were the defendant’s uncle and aunt and the other was a neighbour.

“His uncle had seen videos posted by the defendant in which he made threats to kill him and his wife,” said Miss Kausar.

"In one he said his aunty was on top of the list of people he was going to kill.”

The neighbour described the threats as serious and graphic and said she was very worried because he lived close to her.

Gabrielle Black, defending, said her client was diagnosed with ADHD and was a suspected paranoid schizophrenic.

“He had stopped using cannabis a few days prior to this offence and this may have had an impact on him,” said Miss Black.

“There is clearly some toxicity in the family and he doesn’t want to be in Sabden.

“He realises he has caused stress to the rest of his family and he wants to stay away from them while he gets himself better.”
