United Utilities said some residents may still be experiencing poor water pressure following a burst water pipe over the weekend.

Teams from United Utilities had been working to restore water supply to homes in Beardwood and Pleckgate following the leak on Saturday.

The utility provider had also dispatched water tankers to nearby locations and delivered water bottles to affected homes.

A United Utilities spokesperson said: “Our teams have been working around the clock (on Sunday) resolving the issues affecting the supply in your area.

“We are aware some customers may still be experiencing poor pressure, we sincerely apologise for this. Our water tankers will remain in the area to help keep taps flowing whilst we complete our work.

“Occasionally after an interruption, water can be a different colour. This has happened because of a disturbance in the water mains in your area. Historical sediments that have built up over time in the water pipe have been disturbed causing discolouration to your water.”

Meanwhile, drivers can expect long delays at a busy Blackburn junction on Monday as roadworks next to a set of traffic lights are completed.

A section of Preston New Road and Revidge Road junction was dug up. Work has now finished but resurfacing work needs to be completed.

The junction is unavoidable for anyone heading into and out of Blackburn towards Beardwood and Blackburn. The route is also used to access both the Westholme and Tauheedul Girls School.

Blackburn With Darwen Roads said that manual controls will be in place between 7am and 7pm to assist with the traffic flow.
