A road is closed and is expected to be shut "for some time" due to a crash.

Police are at the scene of a crash on Preston Old Road in Feniscowles.

The road is closed between the junctions of Livesey Branch Road and Finnington Lane.

Officers are urging drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Drivers coming off the M65 and wanting to head in to Blackburn are advised to leave at the next junction at Darwen (4) rather than junction 3.

Police and emergency services were at the sceneA spokesperson said: "Preston Old Road, Feniscowles is currently closed between the junctions of Livesey Branch Road and Finnington Lane due to a road traffic collision.

"We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we make sure the road is safe and clear.

"In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination."
