A MAN who made an untidy search of a shed was tracked down by crimes of scene investigators after leaving his fingerprints on a child’s bike.
Blackburn magistrates heard the shed owner noticed several things had been moved but nothing was stolen.
Jordan Pritchard, 30, of Thompson Street, Padiham, pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal. He was fined £80 with £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
Victoria Forrest, prosecuting, said the homeowner went into the backyard and noticed items outside the shed that should have been inside.
“An untidy search had been carried out but the owner could not find anything missing,” said Miss Forrest.
“One of the items that had been moved was a child’s bike and a forensic check by the scene of crime investigators discovered the defendant’s fingerprints.”
Mark Williams, defending, said the offence was committed in August 2023 and in November his client had been made subject to a suspended prison sentence.
“He has done very well on that order,” said Mr Williams. “His recollection of the events of that night is not good but he accepts that if his fingerprints were found he must have been there.”
