A Blackburn man has been left furious and anxious after a car ploughed into his house causing severe damage.

The incident happened in Wycollar Road at around 6.30pm on Friday (October 4) and caused structural damage to the house and caused the wall of the living room to partially collapse.

Another resident told the Lancashire Telegraph the man claims issues with traffic and people using private driveways to turn around on the dead-end road have increased since the nearby mosque, Madrasah Vali, took in 100 extra children.

He also believes the damage was caused by a parent who had come to pick their children up from the mosque.

The resident said the man was at home with his six-year-old son when the incident happened and they heard a loud bang which made 'the whole house shake.'

It was also said his children use that area to play on a daily basis.

The resident added that some of his children’s toys which were in the driveway had been destroyed in the crash.

He said that even with the new influx of students into the school, no traffic control measures have been put in place.

The resident said: “Nobody has been recruited to do anything. There are no wardens on duty. They have no control of this road whatsoever. Despite there being multiple entrances to the mosque, people choose to use this road because of easy access.”

One entrance to the mosque is off Wycollar Road, while the main entrance is off Preston New Road.

Emergency services attended the scene, and when asked for further information Lancashire Police confirmed they attended and said it was a ‘minor injury’ incident.
