Plans have been approved to build a four-bedroom house at a Ribble Valley farm.

Heber Hargreaves submitted plans to Ribble Valley Borough Council earlier this year for the house at Eaves Hall Farm in West Bradford.

Mr Hargreaves currently lives in Chatburn with his family which involves a 15-minute journey to the 27.8 hectare farm.

The application included the construction of a four-bedroom house as well as a water drainage system and associated landscaping.

The council approved the plans subject to various conditions, including that the house should only be occupied by those working at the farm.

A pre-application enquiry proposed having a larger two-storey house but the council expressed concerns over the scale, which measured almost 8m in height and would have impacted the landscape.

The now single-storey house is less than 5m tall, which will be screened behind hedgerows and the proposed landscaping.

A design and access statement said: “The unit has been designed to ensure a consistent design in relation to local materials and vernacular style.

“The position of the proposed dwelling will ensure the building is inconspicuous in the wider landscape and appropriate for the setting.

“Overall vehicle movements will reduce as living on the premises will obviate the need for repeat journeys from the applicant’s present residence.

“Access for emergency services is good and will not be affected by the development.”
