Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes after a crash in Briercliffe.
Ridehalgh Lane is closed from the junction of Halifax Road to Pennine Way due to the incident.
Police say the road is expected to be closed for a while as they assess the situation.
A spokesperson said: "We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation.
"In the meantime, we’d recommend avoiding the area and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
"We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the road is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today."
Lancashire Police have been contacted for further information.
