Update: The broken down train has been cleared and services are returning to normal.
Train services on the main line through East Lancashire are being delayed or cancelled due to a broken down train.
The broken down train is at Burnley Manchester Road, meaning services on lines between York and Blackpool as well as Manchester to Blackburn are affected.
Northern says trains could be delayed by up to 45 minutes or cancelled.
The 08:20 service from Blackburn to Headbolt Lane, stopping at Accrington, Rose Grove, and Burnley Manchester Road, was cancelled, while the 09:12 arrival at Blackburn in the opposite direction was terminated at Burnley.
The 09:02 service from Burnley to Blackpool North was also cancelled and terminated at Bradford Interchange.

A Northern spokesperson said: "A fault on a train at Burnley Manchester Road is disrupting services that run through this station.
"Services between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge and Accrington may be cancelled, revised, or delayed by up to 45 minutes."
Passengers are able to use their tickets at no extra cost on Northern services between Hebden Bridge and Manchester Victoria, and Blackburn via Bolton.
Replacement travel has been sourced.
