Blackburn presenter AJ Odudu opened up about the new series of Big Brother, which is set to air today, when she appeared on Lorraine earlier this week.

The former St Bede’s High School pupil is the host of Big Brother, which returns to our screens this Sunday (October 6).

She said: “I am buzzing. Me and [co-host Will Best] are ready to be back with the gang. The house has had a new makeover. I can’t wait to meet the housemates.

“We’ve been huge fans of the show for years.

“I love a well-rounded cast. The controversial housemates are only controversial if they have someone in the house to ‘banter’ with. I want the housemates to be interesting.”

Lorraine host Christine Lampard suggested that AJ ‘grew up in a bit of a Big Brother house’ in Blackburn, as one of eight children.

AJ said: “There was a lot of sharing. Sharing beds, sharing bathrooms. I have done my time but I could never be a housemate now, I much prefer presenting Big Brother.”

AJ said: “It was a pinch-me moment.

“Never did I think this black northern girl was ever going to be gracing the pages of British Vogue.

“It was such a proud moment and it was so fun to just talk about me, my background and where I am from and all the exciting things I like about getting dressed up.”

Big Brother will air on ITV2 at 9pm on Sunday, October 6.Episodes will be available on catch-up on ITVX.
