Plans to build a three-bedroom house in the garden of another house have been approved despite concerns being raised by neighbours over privacy.
The applicant, Mr Makinson, applied to Ribble Valley Council earlier this year to build the house in Nickey Lane, Mellor.
Moorcot, a house in Nickey Lane, has a garden described in the plans as “disproportionately large” for the size of the property, hence the application to build the new house in that space.
The two-storey building raised concerns among neighbours who wrote to the council.
One said that while they did not oppose the construction of a new house in that space in principle, they were worried a two-storey house would invade their privacy, and felt any further building should be kept to one-storey.
Another neighbour objected to the plans outright over the same fears.
A design and access statement said Mr Makinson is currently considering the sale of the site and wanted to explore the opportunity of putting in a new dwelling in the garden.

The house will have a living room, kitchen/dining room, garage, cloakroom and utility room on the ground floor, while the first floor will accommodate the master bedroom, two further bedrooms, a bathroom and a dressing room.
A planning statement said: “The proposed dwelling has been designed to nestle into the existing streetscape.
“The use of traditional materials in the form of Yorkshire stone walling to clad the ground floor with smooth render to the upper storey helps to visually reduce the height when viewed from Nickey Lane.
“The appearance is modern but detailed with traditional materials to help sit the building comfortably within the semi-rural context.”
The application also sought the demolition of a summer house and the repositioning of a window on the Moorcot house.
