The Good Food Guide has revealed the cosiest pubs in the UK and three of them are in East Lancashire.

The restaurant review guide, which sends anonymous inspectors to assess restaurants based on their food, hospitality, and atmosphere, has published its top 50 list of cosy pubs as the cold nights draw in.

Pubs in this guide “don't just stoke the open fires and keep the logs well stacked” and serve up relaxed, warm vibes, with “good local beers and even better cooking”.

The Parker’s Arms in Newton-In-Bowland, and The Three Fishes in Mitton, and The Rum Fox in Grindleton, have all made the list.

Chef-patron of The Parkers Arms, Stosi Madi, said the pub is “supremely cosy” in winter.

She said: “We are delighted to have been included in The Good Food Guide cosiest British pubs feature.

"The Parkers is supremely cosy in the winter. Roaring cracking fires, delicious food and [top] service. You could not ask for more.”

Nigel Haworth opened The Three Fishes in 2021 with ambitious plans to make it one of the best pubs in the country.

The pub has a ‘farm to fork’ ethos, establishing a one-acre vegetable garden where heritage seeds and vegetables are grown.

A huge polytunnel is tucked away behind the garden’s main growing area, which fulfils the restaurant’s requirements for herbs, salads and crops.

Dishes change regularly with the seasons and this autumn guests can expect warming dishes such as cheese rolls with a fine dining twist, scallops served in the shell with smoked tomato and rare breed pork fillet alongside deep-fried pig cheeks, rich olive oil mash and cavolo nero harvested from the pub’s garden.

To finish, expect a feast of St James Cheese with figs and The Three Fishes’ own honey, apple crumble souffle with Lancashire cheese ice cream, and Lancashire Eccles cakes.

The Rum Fox, which was also recently named in the Good Food Guide’s Top 100 restaurants, only opened in March last year, after a petition from locals, The Rum Fox offers a wide choice for foodies and casual diners.

Owned by head chef Bob Geldard, former head chef at the Duke of York in Grindleton, and run by Bob's partner Kiaja, the Rum Fox promises an unforgettable dining experience with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients.

For ultimate comfort, The Rum Fox even has an intimate dining area, called The Den, which is suitable for up to 10 people.

Bob said: "We are delighted to have been included in the list along with many other renowned and celebrated pubs.

"When renovating the pub one of our main focuses was the interiors and keeping the traditional pub element with log burners, slate floors, oak beams and traditional bar furniture to help create the cosy pub environment."
