Watching the Conservative Party leadership candidates trying to pitch themselves to party members has got to be one of the most cringeworthy things ever.

It appears some politicians have learnt very little over the past 14 years. The reason people rejected the Tory party so emphatically was for this very reason.

I do sense there are large parts of the media and politicians who are still very much out of touch with reality.

Almost as if they live in a bubble and are completely detached from the issues people are going through on a daily basis.

And this is going to get worse as they find that people born after 1990 become the more dominant electorate and perhaps more informed than the generation that came before them.

That makes a huge difference.

The past 10 years are evidence of that.

So, when someone tells them the British-born descendant of an immigrant is not ‘British enough’, they kind of realise is complete and utter nonsense.

Which brings me back on the Conservative party leadership contest.

I mean, listening to Tory leadership contender Kemi Badenoch last week lecturing us what is and what is not deemed to be British showed how out of touch she is.

This obsession with ‘Britishness’ appears to be a common theme when people have nothing else to offer.

Here we all are stuck paying the same bills to these multinational companies who continue to take us all for a bunch of chumps, and you want me to worry about some bloke coming to the UK 'taking the jobs' of the people who don't want them in the first place.

Yes, I know we should all be able to discuss issues of immigration and nationality openly, but does it have to be the centrepiece of every leadership pitch and constantly brought out during every single speech.

Then again, we can’t and should not blame the politicians for this, as the blame really lies with those want to amplify this in the hope it gets angry folk even angrier.

Just one week without this rage would be a breath of fresh air.
