An ongoing operation to crack down on rogue off-road and electric bike riders in Blackburn has seen a vehicle seized.

Last June, Lancashire Telegraph readers voiced concerns about how irresponsible bikers were making the lives of people using Corporation Park, Witton Park and other green havens in the town a misery.

This came in the week of an orange boiler-suited rider who had terrorised families in Corporation Park.

Helmet-less riders were also seen by the Telegraph pulling wheelies along Blackburn Road in Darwen, weaving in and out of traffic.

Parts of Mill Hill and the Shorrock Lane area were also said to be hotspots by readers, as well as Everton playing fields.

One reader said: "They think they own the road, the paths, the parks and whatever else they feel the need to speed on. It's bonkers how many there area."

Work to tackle the menace has continued through the summer and into autumn, according to Blackburn with Darwen neighbourhood police.

This has resulted in the seizure of one bike which had been used to cause problems earlier this week.

A police spokesperson said: "We would like to thank everyone who has contacted us to report the ongoing issues relating to nuisance and anti-social behaviour off-road/electric bikes and scooters in the Blackburn area.

"This evening, your local neighbourhood policing team seized another electric bike on Newfield Drive and subsequently reported the driver.

"We urge you to keep reporting and submit any pictures/CCTV footage you have.

"Please report via 101, online or Lancashire Talking directly to your dedicated neighbourhood team so we can continue to proactively tackle this issue."
