McDonald's has launched a public consultation on plans for a new drive-thru in Lancashire.

The proposed site is located off the M6, next to the Porsche Centre in Carnforth, and a new commercial development currently under construction.

The fast-food chain says the 'multi-million-pound investment' would create around 120 new jobs.

The announcement comes a month after McDonald's announced its plans to take over the former Pizza Hut restaurant at the Peel Centre in Blackburn, which closed suddenly in the summer.

Plans also went in to open a venue in Clayton-le-Woods in January.

The company has launched an online community consultation seeking views from residents and businesses on the plans.

An online portal has been set up with more details about the proposals, and a newsletter has been sent to local homes and businesses.

The consultation will run for two weeks, closing on October 11.

Oliver Rebeiro, senior acquisitions surveyor at McDonald's, said: "We are excited to start sharing our plans for a new McDonald’s restaurant with the local community.

"This development would deliver around 120 new, local jobs, and provide a multi-million-pound investment into the local economy, at a time of economic uncertainty.

"We are confident that residents and local businesses will recognise the value of greater choice, and the benefits of having a reliable and convenient restaurant from a recognised brand serving food at reasonable prices.

"We are looking forward to working closely with the community and receiving feedback on our plans.

"We would like to encourage everyone interested to go to our website and make their views known."

The eatery would add to the more than 20 locations the Golden Arches has in Lancashire already.
