Two individuals in Blackburn have been named and shamed by HMRC over more than £80,000 in unpaid taxes between them.
HMRC publishes details every three months of people and businesses given financial penalties for failing to comply with tax obligations or deliberately filing errors in tax returns.
Details are only published when a person or business has made at least one deliberate default on more than £25,000.
The latest list was released on September 25.
Among those named in Blackburn was Terab Ali, formerly trading as Saffron Indian Takeaway in Accrington Road.
Ali defaulted on taxes worth £51,705 between April 6, 2016 and April 5, 2022.
The other individual was Mihai Dobrea.
He owed tax worth £49,316 between April 6, 2021 and April 5, 2023 and was fined £34,521.
Details on Companies House show Dobrea, 56, is now the director of World Cleaning Limited, based in Swan Street, Blackburn, and incorporated on August 1, 2023.
The company provides removal services, window cleaning, and general cleaning of buildings.
HMRC listed Dobrea’s trade or occupation at the time of the tax default as construction.
