Train services between Darwen and Blackburn are experiencing delays and cancellations due to a points failure.
Services running through Clitheroe, Whalley, Langho, Ramsgreave & Wilpshire, Blackburn and Darwen have been cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.
Rochdale to Clitheroe services and Manchester Victoria to Blackburn are currently unable to run and Network Rail workers are on site dealing with the problem.
Disruption is occurring in both directions and trains will have to run at a reduced speed.
The first service affected was the 9.15am between Manchester Victoria and Blackburn and is being delayed at Darwen station.
Blackburn to Headbolt Lane services and Preston to Colne are not impacted by this point's failure.
Customers have been urged to use their tickets to board these services and change for onward connections to complete their journey.
Compensation is available to those delayed by more than 15 minutes.
