Crowds flocked to Colne on Saturday (September 28) for a blast from the past, as a festival came to town.

Pictures show crowds enjoying That 70s Festival in the town centre.

People came dressed to impress in their best 70s-inspired clothes, with floral and colourful dresses, bell-bottom trousers, fur-trimmed coats, and vibrant headbands making an appearance.

The event was also for businesses, that showcased their items for sale at the artisan market. Retro-inspired jewellery, art pieces, street food, and beyond, were made available.

Petrolheads would have loved seeing the classic cars displays featuring vintage vehicles.

The event was also informative, including the showcase of 1970s film footage at the Market Hall. This showcased some of the most memorable moments from 70s cinema.

There was also a photo exhibition by Lancashire Archives at Colne Library. This showcased candid snapshots, iconic moments, and daily life in Colne during the 70s.

From fashion to community events, this exhibition painted a vivid picture of what life was like in our town during this unforgettable decade.

Visitors also enjoyed seeing mod bikers as they rode through the streets of Colne, bringing with them the iconic culture of the mod movement of the era.

If this was not enough there was also live music across the town, including at The Bees Knees, The Duke of Lancaster, The Dressers, Boyce's Barrel, and Mojo's of Colne. Local artists took to the stage and performed a range of 70s classics.

Colne BID Manager Aneesa McGladdery said: “We [celebrated] the decade with music from that time, classic cars, and specialty foods all across the town centre.

"Colne saw a lot of changes during this decade, both positive and negative for some but it was certainly an important one for us.

"The building of the library, the market hall, and the decade Pendle Borough was formed too!"
