A restaurant in Langho has been named one of the world’s best fine dining restaurants, according to Tripadvisor.
The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best titles, which celebrate the highest level of excellence in travel, have been revealed and Michelin-star restaurant Northcote has come out on top.
It has been named the third-best fine dining restaurant in the world and the best in the UK.
Lisa Goodwin-Allen, executive chef at Northcote, said she was “speechless” after finding out the good news.
She said: “Wow, I’m actually speechless, to be named third best restaurant in the world by Tripadvisor is honestly a huge achievement because it’s based on reviews from guests, who are our most important critics.
“I am so proud of the team at Northcote every day, but especially today. These reviews aren’t just based on the food but the overall experience, so this placing is a credit to every single person who works so hard to make Northcote such a very special place.”
Tripadvisor has praised its “stunning garden” and tasting menu that “shines and pairs perfectly with local cocktails”. Dessert here is highly recommended and customers are “served by attentive staff”.
Reviewers have raved about their visit to Northcote.
One person said: “It’s an amazing experience with amazing staff who cannot do enough for you. “Lisa is a magician and wizard in one. ... can’t wait to return.”
Another said: “We went for a three-course meal and enjoyed every dish. It was a relaxed atmosphere and the staff made us feel very welcome.”
Tripadvisor gives these titles to businesses that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period.
Out of the eight million listings, fewer than one per cent achieved this milestone.
Earlier this year it was announced that Northcote has retained its Michelin star.
Northcote has held its Michelin star for an impressive 28 years and Lisa said the team always “strives for excellence”.
Northcote’s staff are also highly commended.
Magdalena Sleziak, head sommelier at Northcote, was recently named in the top 100 sommelier list for 2024, a list that recognises those who are at the top of the profession.
