One lane of a main road between two East Lancashire boroughs is set to be closed for two nights starting tonight (September 27).

National Highways has confirmed the A56 northbound will be closed between Haslingden and Rising Bridge.

The first closure will be tonight going into Saturday morning. The road will then be closed again from Sunday night (September 29) into Monday morning (September 30).

Both closures will be in place from 9pm to 5am.

A diversion will be in place along the A680.
