Six fire crews were called to tackle a blaze at a commercial building this morning.

The incident happened just before 6am on Knowsley Road. People are being asked to avoid the area and expect disruption.

A section of the road was closed due to the incident but traffic appears to be coping well.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “At 5:57am, six fire engines attended a commercial building fire on Knowsley Road, Haslingden.

“Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and are using three hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“The drone team is in attendance at this incident. Please do not fly drones nearby the area as you may obstruct emergency operations.

“Please avoid the area.”

A further update at 7.30am said: "This incident has now been reduced to four fire engines, firefighters continue to monitor and extinguish hotspots."
