Those looking to start a new project by renovating a home could be in luck in this East Lancashire town.
In a new study, Burnley has been named as the fourth-best place in the country to renovate a home.
Using data sourced from Gov.UK, Rightmove, and Checkatrade, the study by flooring company Mr Sander was based on four key factors: median house price, planning approval rate, tradesperson reviews, and the percentage of homes deemed to have renovation potential.
An increasing number of people are opting to purchase properties in need to renovation, aiming to save costs and infuse their distinct style into their homes.
Burnley claimed fourth place in the study with a score of 74.16.
The median house price is £103,386 – significantly below the national average – with a planning approval rate of 97.9 per cent and with 27.9 per cent of homes presenting renovation potential.
Above Burnley were Wolverhampton, Sandwell, and County Durham, while behind the town in the top 10 were Gateshead, Darlington, South Tyneside, Plymouth, St Helens, and Amber Valley.
All of the worst-ranked places for home renovation were in London.
Anthony Miller, chief executive of Mr Sander, said: “This latest study reveals the prime locations in the UK ideal for initiating renovation projects, highlighting the regions with significant renovation potential and shedding light on the key factors that inform successful property transformations.”
