Lancashire Police officers have been praised for ‘going above and beyond’ in the line of duty, at an awards ceremony.

The event, called Our Excellence Awards, was held at Blackburn Rovers' Ewood Park on Thursday, September 19 and saw 200 people come together to celebrate the work taking place across the police force.

Hosted by Graham Liver, from BBC Radio Lancashire, the 12 awards highlighted the categories that embody the force's values.

From more than 400 nominations, the winners of the Excellence Awards for 2024 were:

Sam Mackenzie, deputy chief constable said: “The Excellence Awards are the pinnacle of our awards, recognising officers, staff and volunteers that go above and beyond in their work for victims, their families and the communities of Lancashire.

“They are a chance to come together to celebrate their achievements with their loved ones who support them in their role. Policing often extends beyond our people, and the awards also provide us with an opportunity to thank families and friends for their support.

“We have some fantastic people who work incredibly hard day in day out to provide the best service they can for our communities. To have been nominated and to be a finalist and recognised as being at the pinnacle of that is a huge achievement.”

Clive Grunshaw, police and crime commissioner for Lancashire, said: “The Lancashire Constabulary Excellence Awards are a chance to recognise the work that officers carry out around the clock to deliver the best possible service for the people of Lancashire, and thank those who have gone above and beyond in the line of duty to keep the county safe.

"These are just some examples of the role everyone in Lancashire Constabulary plays in tackling crime and putting offenders behind bars, with policing working at the very heart of the communities it serves to protect the public.

"I'll hold the chief constable to account for delivering the highest standards of policing across the county. As the public’s voice in policing, I will work to make Lancashire safer through strong leadership, tough scrutiny and effective policing.”
