The Food Standards Agency has revealed the hygiene scores for all of the Wetherspoons in East Lancashire.
The agency is in charge of giving food and drink businesses in the UK a score based on cleanliness, management of food safety, and hygienic food handling.
Their rating system is as follows:
- 5 – hygiene standards are very good
- 4 – hygiene standards are good
- 3 – hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
- 2 – some improvement is necessary
- 1 – major improvement is necessary
- 0 – urgent improvement is required
We took a look at every Wetherspoons pub in the area to see how their hygiene ratings rank.
It comes after the company’s pubs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland achieved an average food hygiene rating of 4.99 out of 5 overall – behind only five other businesses.

“However, we also take it extremely seriously when a pub does not
achieve the maximum rating.
“Where a maximum score is not achieved, we work hard with each pub’s team and local authority to ensure, as quickly as possible, that standards are returned to expected levels.”
