Multiple roadworks on a busy route caused misery for drivers in Blackburn at rush hour on Tuesday morning.
Roadworks on Bank Top and then further along the road at King Street were causing long queues in both directions for drivers.
Two-way traffic lights at Bank Top were leading to delays for drivers into and out of town with traffic backed up to Buncer Lane.
At the King Street junction with Montague Street, one lane had been closed to traffic so drivers were unable to turn onto Montague Street.
Further misery was compounded by traffic lights that were only allowing fewer than 10 cars through at a time on King Street.
The Oakenhurst Road junction was also closed forcing drivers onto Stonyhurst Road and the turn onto King Street.
