Here’s a photo which Looking Back readers with a connection to Darwen may well recognise.
Taken in 1993, it shows the Woodvale flats in the town.
When they were built, the flats on Vale Street were heralded as being a good solution to the town’s housing needs but like many flats complexes, they ran into problems with claims of anti-social behaviour and by 2009, everyone had moved out of the 62 flats and maisonettes and demolition had begun.
