Two people including a man in his 20s have been seriously injured following a crash in Blackburn.

Emergency services were called at 8.55pm on Friday to Broken Stone Road, Feniscowles, at the crossroads junction with Bog Height Road, Heys Lane and Tockholes Road, to a report of a collision.

Officers attended and found that a Seat Ibiza car had crashed into a Toyota Prius.

The Seat Ibiza then crashed into a building and overturned.

A passenger in the Seat Ibiza, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and is in a critical condition in hospital. The driver of the Seat Ibiza suffered serious injuries and is being treated in hospital.

The driver and passenger in the Toyota Prius both suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Paul McCurrie said: “This was a collision which has left a man in a critical condition in hospital. My thoughts are very much with him and his family.

“As we investigate the collision, we want to hear from anyone who witnessed it or was in the area around the time and has dashcam/CCTV footage.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "At 9.03pm on Friday, two fire engines from Blackburn attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Broken Stone Road, Blackburn.

"Fire service personnel extricated two casualties from the vehicles using lighting and Holmatro equipment. Crews were detained for approximately two hours."
