We know from the occasional photo which we reproduce in Looking Back that readers are very keen on anything to do with buses and transport.

So we have gone back into the archive to see what interesting bus photos from years gone by we could find.

Some of them are among the earlier pictures in our archive and hark back to a long-gone era of trams and the charabancs which would be essential forms of transport for so many.

It’s a shame that this was very much the black and white era as it would be great to have seen the liveries of the various bus companies in full colour.

It really was something when you could identify a town’s buses by their paint schemes.
