Officer have issued a warning after reports of high-powered vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner in Nelson.
Police say they understand these vehicles are high-powered and will create noise but “do not appreciate these vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner”.
The driver of any car caught being driven in a careless or inconsiderate manner will be issued a warning. Vehicles may be seized for this offence.
A police spokesperson said: “We have received reports of high-powered vehicles seen around the town centre of Nelson.
"Whilst we appreciate these vehicles are high powered and will naturally create noise, we do not appreciate these vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner.
“Any car that has been or is caught driving in a careless inconsiderate manner contrary to section three or 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 in a manner which is causing alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public is eligible to receive a section 59 warning.
“Vehicles can and will be seized for this offence.”
