Police have issued a warning to drivers after a crash on the M58 in Up Holland.
The road, from junction five eastbound, is fully closed. The crash involving a car that came to land on its roof.
Police anticipate that it will be “closed for some time” and recommend looking for an alternative route.
According to the AA Traffic and Travel website, there is congestion back to junction four in Skelmersdale.
A police spokesperson said: “We want to update you and let you know that the M58 from junction five eastbound is experiencing a full closure due to a Road Traffic Collision.
“We anticipate it will be closed for some time. We would recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
“We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once we know more. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.”
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The M58 eastbound between junction five in Skelmersdale and M6 in Orrell is closed following a collision involving a car that came to land on its roof. Emergency services remain at scene being assisted by our officers."
