Blackburn's EG Group has confirmed co-founder Zuber Issa will step down as co-chief executive of the company at the end of October.

In June, the company announced it had agreed to sell its remaining UK forecourt business and some food service locations for £228 million to Zuber.

Zuber will now lead a new UK petrol forecourt and convenience retail business, including food service, to be branded ‘EG on the Move’. 

The company said all relevant approvals for the UK transaction have now been received and the group is progressing to completion expected on October 31.

Zuber will step down from his executive leadership capacity at EG Group, becoming a non-executive director, and Mohsin will be chief executive.

Together the brothers built EG Group into a multi-billion-pound business headquartered in their hometown, Blackburn.
