Pictures have been released after a water leak was found in Darwen.
The leak, on Greenway Street, was reported at around 7am this morning (September 17). Pictures, shared by Helen Giles, show water streaming down the street.
Residents have reported water coming up from the pavements adding that it looked like a “serious burst”.
One person said: “When I walked past I noticed the water coming up from the pavement on Greenway itself, as well as the gallons pouring out from behind the back alley.
“I did tell them it looked like a serious burst and the fact it was coming up from the pavement in front of the houses, as well as round the back. It was not a good situation at all.
“Praying it is not running under the houses.”
United Utilities said the leak has been located and said repairs are set to take place this afternoon.
A United Utilities spokesperson said: "Our engineers have located the leak and a repair has been scheduled for this afternoon. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
