AN intimate gig at an East Lancs venue is set to feature two prominent singers from the Britpop era who are still making waves today.
Nigel Clark, frontman for Top 10 performers Dodgy, and Chris Helme, singer for The Seahorses, are coming to Darwen's Sunbird Records later this year.
Promoters at The Circus venue have been busy showcasing several up-and-coming artists in recent times, most notably with their Neotribe all-dayer.
But the November 29 gig for Clark and Helme gives the veteran lead singers to turn the spotlight on some of their new material.
Clark made his name in Britpop's heyday with a string of ultra-catchy numbers, including Staying Out For The Summer, Good Enough and In A Room.
But Dodgy, after a lengthy hiatus, returned in 2012 with the well-received Stand Upright In A Cool Place, and later What Are We Fighting For.
Now Clark, who still tours as Dodgy with guitarist Andy Miller and drummer Mathew Priest, is heading to East Lancs on his own, with numbers from his 2006 solo album 21st Century Man, including singles Four Bags Of Gold and Its Not Easy. He also put out Make Believe Love in his own name in 2020.
Helme has a new album to plug, his first new offering for a decade, entitled World of My Own.
He will play tracks from the release alongside favourites from The Seahorses seminal album, which was crafted with Stone Roses legend John Squire.
A Sunbird spokesman said: "With earworm tunes running through your head long after you first hear them, it seems Chris’ new songs look set to become just as beloved as the old ones,"
Tickets are available now via the fatsoma website.
